Service description
If you gave birth to your child at home, each custodial parent of the child is required to report the birth.
If you, as the custodial parent, are prevented from reporting the birth, any other person who was present at the birth or has knowledge of the birth is obliged to report it.
What documents are needed?
- Certificate of the midwife / maternity nurse or doctor about the birth,
- Parents' identity card or passport.
If the parents are married to each other:
- Birth certificates of parents,
- Marriage certificate or certified printout from the marriage register.
If the parents are not married to each other:
- Birth certificate of the mother
If paternity has already been acknowledged additionally:
- Declaration of acknowledgement of paternity with the consent of the mother,
- Birth certificate of the father,
- Declaration of custody, if available.
What are the fees?
- Birth announcement: free of charge,
- Birth certificate for the social benefit "Assistance in case of pregnancy and maternity": free of charge,
- additional certificates: 13,00 Euro each (in case of simultaneous application each additional of the same kind 6,50 Euro)
What deadlines do I have to observe?
- Indication of birth: within a week.
- If a child is stillborn, the report must be filed no later than the third business day following the birth.
- Late registration of the first name: within one month.

The birth must be registered in person with the required documents at the registry office of the place of birth.
