Service description
You can reassign your child's name if you do not exercise joint custody with the other parent until after the birth.
Process flow
You can submit the name change declaration to any registry office. You must have it notarized by a notary or registrar. The declaration takes effect as soon as it arrives at the registry office.
You will receive a certificate of the name change.

Requirements
- Child already has a name
- Joint custody of parents is established only after the fact
- if the child is 5 years or older: consent of the child
What documents are needed?
- Birth certificate child (with official translation if necessary)
- Identity cards or passports
- Marriage certificate or
- Proof of care
In individual cases, further documents may be required. You can ask for these at the registry office.
What deadlines do I have to observe?
The new birth name must be determined within 3 months after the establishment of joint custody of the child.
