Certificate of descent
Service description
The certificate of descent was abolished on 01.01.2009 by the Personal Status Reform Act. With the abolition of the certificate of descent, an adoption can only be established by a certified register printout of the birth entry.
The parentage certificate served as proof of the birth of a child. It contains additional information (such as name changes or the registration of an adoption) that is not recorded on the birth certificate.
The certificate of descent was required for marriages, as it could be used to establish the natural parents. Only the legal parents are noted in the birth certificate. The task of the certificate of descent was to determine obstacles to marriage in the case of adopted children.
