If your passport can no longer be found or has been lost, you must report the loss immediately (notification of loss).
There is no obligation to apply for a new passport. If you still need a passport, you must apply for a new passport. It is not possible to issue a replacement document.What documents are needed?

What else should I know?
The passport cannot be taken immediately after application, as it is produced at the Bundesdruckerei in Berlin. If the passport is needed earlier, an express pass port can be applied for.
