    The birth of a child must be reported to the registry office responsible for the place of birth.

    If your child is born in a hospital or other facility where obstetric care is provided, the birth notification will be handled by this facility. In this case, you should ask the maternity facility in good time what documents and papers you need to bring with you to the date of delivery. .

    If the birth does not take place in a hospital or other facility where obstetric assistance is provided (home birth), the birth must be reported in person to the registry office by a parent with custody within one week. If the parents are prevented from reporting the birth, the birth must be reported by another person who was present at the birth.

  • What documents are needed?

    You will need the following documents:

    • for parents who are married to each other
      • Birth certificates of parents
      • Marriage certificate or a certified printout from the marriage register
    • for parents who are not married to each other
      • Birth certificate of the mother
      • if paternity has already been acknowledged:
        • Declaration of acknowledgement of paternity and declaration of consent of the mother
        • Birth certificate of the father
        • if applicable, the declaration of custody
    • identity card, passport or a recognized passport substitute document of the parents
    • a certificate of birth issued by a physician or midwife or maternity nurse, if they were present at the birth

    A marriage certificate must also be submitted if the marriage has since divorced or the husband is deceased.

  • What are the fees?

    The notification of a birth at the registry office is free of charge.

    Administrative fees are charged for the issuance of a birth certificate and vary by state.

    Special instructions for - Verbandsgemeinde Göllheim

    For the issuance of a birth certificate, fees of 12.00 Euro for the first birth certificate and 6.00 Euro for each additional birth certificate ordered at the same time are charged in the municipality of Göllheim.

  • What deadlines do I have to observe?

    The notification of the birth of your child must be made within one week at the registry office responsible for the place of birth.

    The day of birth is not included in the calculation of the notification period.

    If your child is stillborn, the notification must be made no later than the third business day after the birth.
