Are you affected by a disability and have had a health impairment for more than 6 months? If so, you can apply to have your disability assessed under certain conditions.
As a result of the examination, you may be given a degree of disability. If the examination of the required documents results in a degree of disability of 50 or more, you can be issued with a severely disabled person's pass.
In addition to the degree of disability, special health restrictions may be determined in the course of the examination. The corresponding characteristics may be entered in the severely disabled person's pass.
The following characteristics can be recognized by the competent authority and entitle you to further compensation for disadvantages:
- G - significant impairment of mobility in road traffic
- aG - exceptional walking disability
- H - Helplessness
- B - Authorization for a permanent escort when using public transport
- RF - Reduction in broadcasting fees and/or reduction in telephone connection fees
- GL - Deafness
- BL - Blindness
- TBL - Deafblindness
What documents are needed?
- Informal application for determination of a disability
- Application form from the competent authority
- if available:
- other proof of the degree of disability (e.g. pension certificate or corresponding administrative or court decision)
- Relevant medical documents, for example expert opinions
- In the case of representation: power of attorney or ID of the person providing care
- for applicants without citizenship of an EU Member State: proof of legal residence
