One-time benefits

    In addition to the current benefits of the basic benefits for job seekers (SGB II - Hartz IV), the assistance for living (3rd chapter SGB XII) and the basic benefits in old age and in case of reduced earning capacity (4th chapter SGB XII), one-off benefits are provided separately for:
    • 1. initial equipment for the apartment including household appliances
    • 2. initial equipment for clothing, including during pregnancy and childbirth, as well as
    • 3. Class trips lasting several days within the framework of the provisions of school law.


    "One-time" does not mean that these benefits are granted to everyone only once, but that they can be claimed on a case-by-case basis whenever the requirements are met.

    It is important that the one-time benefits are applied for before the purchase. If you purchase first and then come to the service provider with the invoice, you can no longer receive benefits for this.

    One-time benefits are also provided under certain circumstances for housing acquisition, renovation and relocation costs.

    One-time benefits are also to be granted if the person seeking assistance does not need or receive any current benefits for subsistence, but the need for the one-time benefit cannot be met from his or her own resources.

    Therefore, it is advisable for persons whose income is only slightly above the current requirement to obtain information from the competent office about their possible entitlements.
