Dog tax exemption

  • Service description

If you are dependent on a dog because of your disability, you are usually exempt from dog tax. However, the requirements are different in each municipality. Exemption is often dependent on whether the disabled person is dependent on the companionship of a dog. The tax exemption applies to dogs that are indispensable for the protection and assistance of blind, deaf or otherwise completely helpless persons. In addition, as a rule, rescue dogs that have undergone appropriate training and testing are also exempt from the dog tax

Most municipalities in Rhineland-Palatinate currently grant a tax exemption - in accordance with the model statutes of the Association of Municipalities and Towns of Rhineland-Palatinate.
