Service description
With a birth certificate, you can prove the birth of a person, their first and last names and the details of their parents. You can have a multilingual birth certificate issued on the basis of the birth register kept at the relevant registry office. The multilingual form includes the languages English, French, Spanish and Italian. The certificate does not require any further certification (legalization/apostille) in the contracting states of the Convention.
What documents are needed?
To apply for a birth certificate you will need:
- Your identity card or passport (in case of written application: certified copy),
- in the case of application or collection by a representative:
- written power of attorney from the authorized person,
- their identity card or passport (original or certified copy)
- and the identity card or passport of the representative
- certain persons must additionally prove a legal or legitimate interest

There are fees for the issuance of a birth certificate.
